In a surprise announcement during the Adobe MAX conference, Adobe (Nasdaq: ADBE) unveiled Project Stardust, a cutting-edge, object-aware editing engine that harnesses the power of generative AI. This leap in image editing technology seeks to revolutionize the user experience, automating intricate edits that once demanded hours of manual effort.

Adobe’s Project Stardust simplifies image editing to an unprecedented level, enabling users to seamlessly select, modify, or erase intricate elements in images. Imagine relocating people in a photograph, changing the hue of their attire, or repositioning them entirely, all with the ease of manipulating layers in a digital file.

Gavin Miller, Vice President and Fellow of Adobe Research, remarked, “At our annual MAX Sneaks, we consistently unveil groundbreaking technologies. This year, the emphasis is on how generative AI and 3D technologies can vastly enhance creative expression.”

The underpinning tech, Adobe’s Firefly, is a suite of innovative, generative AI models now available to the masses. It goes beyond mere image creation, illustrating the prowess of generative AI in refining workflows across video, audio, animation, and motion graphics, trimming post-production timelines from days to mere minutes.

Amid the buzz of Project Stardust, other prototypes also shone. Project See Through, for instance, uses AI to remove glass reflections from photos effortlessly, a task once deemed labor-intensive. In the realm of video and audio, Project Fast Fill leverages Firefly’s generative AI for video content enhancement, while Project Dub Dub Dub autonomously translates video or audio recordings, preserving the original speaker’s tone and voice.

The world of 3D design wasn’t left behind. Tools like Project Poseable simplify user interactions with substantial 3D models. Project Neo, another notable advancement, seamlessly incorporates 3D components into 2D designs, further blurring the boundaries of digital artistry.

In an exciting fusion of tech and fashion, Adobe showcased Project Primrose, envisioning a future where clothing morphs into dynamic visual displays. Alongside other cutting-edge initiatives such as Project Glyph Ease and Project Draw & Delight, Adobe cements its standing at the vanguard of creative technological advancement.

This year’s MAX Sneaks, co-hosted by comedian and actor Adam Devine, once again spotlighted Adobe’s relentless drive for innovation. Those keen on delving deeper into these technological marvels can find exhaustive details on the Adobe blog.
