Getty Images, the world’s leading creator and marketplace of visual content, has renewed its partnership with Canva, the world’s all-in-one visual communication platform.

The multi-year renewal means that Canva customers will continue to have access to millions of award-winning creative images and videos from Getty Images. The renewal also means that Getty will be supporting Canva’s work to develop responsibly trained AI tools as part of Canva’s $200 million Content Fund.

We are pleased to extend and deepen our partnership with Canva, which speaks to Getty Images’ unparalleled ability to provide depth, breadth, and quality of content to service the full range of customer need,” said Peter Orlowsky, SVP of Strategic Development at Getty Images. “We look forward to collaborating with Canva to empower their users with responsibly trained and commercially safe AI that can inspire and expand creativity.

Since 2018, Getty Images has been working with Canva to add millions of high-quality images and videos to Canva’s content library, along with the assets created by over 100,000 Canva creators.

We’re excited to enhance our access to high-quality visual content through our continued partnership with Getty Images, so our users can access everything they need to design, right at their fingertips,” said Silvia Oviedo Lopez, SVP of Global Content and Discovery at Canva. “Creators are vital to Canva, and this partnership marks another milestone in our commitment to develop AI responsibly, and in a way that benefits everyone.

Canva’s commitment to supporting creators through fair compensation for the use of their work in AI development, such as their acquisition of Leonardo AI is further demonstrated by the launch of Canva Shield last year alongside its AI product suite, Magic Studio.

Canva Shield has a $200 million content fund that includes payouts to Canva creators who agree to have their content used to train Canva’s proprietary AI models. It also includes copyright protection for businesses, strong security and safety systems, and AI data controls.

We think it’s not only critical, but also fair that creatives and IP rights holders earn royalties when they license their work for AI training,” said Orlowsky.

This means making sure that licensing is simple and straightforward, so that everything in Canva’s content library is covered by the Content License Agreement.
