Download Lightroom Presets first

  1. Download your Lightroom Presets from Photutorial (by subscribing on the right) or you can get them elsewhere. They usually come in a .zip file.
  2. Unzip the file using software like 7zip.

Lightroom Classic – version 7.3+ (.XMP files)

The process is analogous on Mac and PC with some design changes.

This is how you install Lightroom Presets in Lightroom Classic 7.3+ on Mac and Windows:

  1. Open Lightroom and go to File > Import Profiles and Presets.
  2. Find the folder to which you saved your presets and select the XMP files.

To install Lightroom Presets in Lightroom 4, 5, 6 & Lightroom Classic up to 7.2 on Mac and Windows, follow these steps:

  1. Mac: Click on Lightroom tab (top left) and then Preferences.
    Windows: Click on Edit and then Preferences.
  2. A new screen will pop up.
  3. Click on the tab Presets
  4. Click on the box Show Lightroom Presets Folder (older version)
  5. Click on the Show All other Lightroom Presets box (newer version)
  6. Double click on Lightroom
  7. Double click on Develop Presets folder
  8. Copy the contents of the downloaded folder into the Develop Presets folder.
  9. Restart Lightroom
  10. Congrats, you just installed Lightroom presets!

Installing Lightroom Presets in Mobile Lightroom is a slightly more complex process, but with this tutorial, you will do it in a jiff.

Follow these steps:

  1. On your PC, unzip the folder of presets you downloaded. Alternatively, you can do it on your iOS device by just tapping on the folder.
    On Android: download WinZip app for Android.
  2. Open Lightroom Mobile app
  3. Click Add Photos
  4. Navigate to the folder to which you saved
