Placeit is an amazing mockup generator, including print-on-demand, product, and transparent backgrounds. However, the logo maker is lacking compared to our 5.0-star Editor’s Pick for the best logo makers, Looka. In addition to the more professional logos, Looka also created 300+ branded designs for you and a website, starting at $8 per month.
If you’re looking for an all-in-one solution, though, Tailor Brands might be even better. In addition to the logo and a website, you can get tax filing, LLC formation, domain name reservation, business insurance, and a few other things every new business needs.
How much does Placeit cost?
Placeit offers both per-item purchases and a subscription service, but their subscription is definitely the way to go if you plan on using their services frequently. All Placeit features, including mockups, logo maker, and AI-generated images, are available under one very affordable Unlimited Subscription that costs just $7.47 per month when paid yearly ($89.69/yr) or $14.95 per month when paid monthly.
The prices include taxes and are securely processed and encrypted. You can pay with all major credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) and PayPal.

The minimum commitment for a subscription is one month, meaning you can cancel any time after the first month. And, if you haven’t downloaded anything from your account, you’re exempt from the minimum commitment. You also don’t have to worry about losing access to the designs you’ve created either—you’ll still have access even after you cancel your subscription. Just make sure to download them and store them locally before canceling.
If you’re looking for a discount, keep an eye out for sales in their newsletters. But their annual subscription is already a great deal at 50% off the monthly rate. Note that coupons are single-use only, so if you’ve already used one, you won’t be able to use it again. However, you can continue with your subscription without a coupon or wait for any new offers in the future.
Placeit Logo Maker review
Getting started with the Placeit Logo Maker is very standard: you enter your business name and pick the industry you’re in. But this is where the specifications end, making it impossible to provide in-depth instructions in case you already know what kind of logo you want. For example, Looka and Tailor Brands let also specify logo layouts.
The Logo Maker will create several variations of your logo based on templates, so you can pick the one you like best. You can also change the graphics included in the logo, although most of them are unappealing, to say the least, and not appropriate for a professional logo.

When you pick a logo, Placeit will immediately create mockups of your merch, such as flyers, notebooks, banner ads, and more. In a somewhat confusing order, you will only then be asked to choose the font and colors for your logo design.
The editor is fairly easy to use, but it’s also simple and not very powerful. You can modify colors, fonts, and add a different icon or use a different template, but not much else.

You can download the logo and mockups with an active Placeit subscription or buy from 1 to 5 templates for $9.95–$41.75. The logo costs $9.95, while each mockup costs $7.95.
Place Logo Maker review: Verdict
Placeit Logo Maker is based on templates, similar to the Canva Logo Maker, but has fewer modification options, less professional templates, and an overall worse editor. It’s also much worse than Looka and Tailor Brands, which offer better editing options and are based on AI instead of templates.
Mockups review
Thousands of business owners use Placeit for its mockup generator, which is indeed one of the best available—even better than Canva’s. The best way to create a mockup is to enter your term in the search bar and look for the image you like. For this Placeit review, we’ll create a shirt mockup with our logo.
First, we like Placeit for the sheer number of mockups available. For example, searching for “shirt” returns over 37K results or 1.2K for “bag”.

When you find a mockup template you like, you can click on it to head to the editor. The editor is similar to the logo maker’s with a few minor differences. You can add an image that will be placed onto the empty area—in our example, the shirt.
You can also resize your image or replace and delete it if you don’t like it. You can also change the color of the empty area and add any text.

Mockup review: Verdict
Mockups are very easy to create and also quite accurate. Sometimes, the original is not properly masked, so you might see some white edges, and there’s nothing you can do.
Customer support
Placeit recently upgraded its customer support, which is now available with a live chat, as well as email support and a help page. Both reply reasonably fast when you write during business hours, but you won’t get a reply on weekends.
While you’re waiting for the response, you can find lots of helpful how-to guides and inspiring posts in the help section and the website’s blog. For advanced tutorial tips, check out Placeit’s Youtube channel. However, the faster way to get help remains through reading the FAQs.
Placeit license explained
The Placeit license is reasonably broad and allows you to use all mockups and logos commercially. This means you can sell the products you create and even apply for trademarks.
You may:
- Add, alter, and modify content to make a final design
- Publish, broadcast, and distribute the content you create
- Put your final design on any kind of product and then sell those products
- Create content for a client and sell for a fee
- Apply for trademarks
You may not:
- Redistribute templates as stock or in a tool/template.
- Redistribute or make available templates or customized products as-is or with superficial modifications.
- Make content templates available on an “on demand”, stock or inventory, “made to order” or “build it yourself” basis.
