Shutterstock increases monthly download limit to 25 images at no extra cost
Update 12 Nov 2024: Shutterstock is experimenting with this update. It’s been available on and off in the last week.
Shutterstock quietly boosted the value of its entry-level image subscriptions in October 2024. These plans now offer 25 downloads per month, up from 10, with no price change. Subscribers still pay $49 monthly, $29 per month on a year-long plan, or a $299 annual prepayment. Other Shutterstock plans remain unchanged.
This change dramatically reduces the per-image cost. Under the old pricing, a single image on the monthly plan cost $4.90. Now, that same image cost starts at just $1 with the annual prepaid plan.
What’s more, new customers can use our Shutterstock coupon code ‘PHOTUTORIAL15‘ to get an extra 15% discount on all plans, including this one.
How does this compare to Shutterstock’s competitors? Depositphotos, for example, offers a comparable plan with 30 downloads for $299 per year (or $29 monthly). Adobe Stock and iStock, however, offer just 10 downloads for $29 a month at their entry level. Shutterstock now offers significantly more downloads for the same monthly cost.
Although no new features accompanied this change, the increased download limit itself is substantial. In a market sensitive to pricing and download limits, Shutterstock’s focus on value and flexibility for its users is demonstrated.
Shutterstock recently adjusted its pricing structure, sparking questions about whether this increase is permanent. Regardless, subscribers can take advantage of this opportunity for now. This change reflects Shutterstock’s ongoing commitment to meeting user needs and staying competitive. Time will tell whether this leads to further adjustments to their services.
