Unsplash is probably the most famous free stock photo site; and with a library of over 4.2 million images, it’s larger than many paid ones.

On October 5, 2022, Getty Images, which acquired Unsplash in March 2021, announced a new Unsplash+ subscription. With it, Unsplash now offers exclusive and creative imagery on top of the already free images.

What is Unsplash+?

Unsplash+, pronounced “Unsplash Plus”, is a new unlimited subscription providing access to a high-quality and exclusive image library. The Unsplash+ subscription offers creatives a more comprehensive service, including exclusive images commissioned by the Unsplash community for Unsplash+, as well as content from the Getty Images historical archive.

How Much Does Unsplash+ Cost?

Unsplash+ is available as a monthly subscription for $20/month or a yearly subscription that costs $240/year (65% cheaper). Until further notice, the “Limited Launch Special pricing” ensures even lower prices, at $12/month with monthly and $7/month with yearly subscriptions.

What Do You Get with Unsplash+?

An active Unsplash+ subscription gives you the following:

1. Members-only content

Since the release of Unsplash+, you can find images labeled “Unsplash+” mixed into the regular free images. The premium images are also protected with a watermark, which you must not remove with 3rd party programs.

To the best of our knowledge, there is no filter that would let you browse premium or free images as of yet. The only way of finding them is by searching the library.

2. Unlimited downloads

Just as you can download as many free images from Unsplash as you like, you can also download unlimited premium images if you have an active Unsplash+ subscription.

3. Royalty-free license

All Unsplash+ images come with a standard royalty-free license, which means you can use them for commercial and non-commercial purposes. Also, you can use the photos an unlimited number of times without any time restrictions, and you do not have to provide credit.

Each photo has a valid model or property release when necessary, while Unsplash also covers up to the US $10,000 per file if you receive a claim.
